It was a beautiful day to enjoy Haiti. We went shopping and had lunch at the Baptist Mission in Kenskoff. We also shopped at a few street vendors so everyone could experience the joys of bartering. The reality of Haiti was very real, though, when a young father approached Cara Kay and asked her to take his daughter because her mother was in the hospital and he couldn't care for her. We have come across a lot of sickness on this trip, mostly due to a newly named virus called chikengunya that is spread through mosquitoes. While it isn't fatal, it causes high temperatures and arthritis-like body aches for weeks. Please pray that the people of Leogane and the surrounding areas will be spared from this illness and that those who have been stricken will heal quickly.
